The Heart Never Forgets...

The heart wants what the heart wants & right now that’s love… In my 34 years of life, I’ve experienced a few moments that may have possibly felt like the definition of love that I always held in my mind. Because my heart so desperately craves the endorphins, the rush, the wave… to just feel that again, me & shawty (my heart) keeps going back to the thing/things that gave us satisfaction in the moment, but ultimately hurt us in the end.

The heart doesn’t forget the very thing that made it feel alive. The thing that we are willing to risk everything on. To love is to give in to the possibility that there will be hurt, pain, and loss, but the comfort that love sometimes brings is worth the risk of feeling something that is out of our control.

One things for sure & two things for certain, I’ve never forgotten that happiness, that joy, that peace, (even if it was a façade), that came along with love. Each year when this day rolls around I am reminded of just how loved I am by my friends & family, but my heart still says it needs more. LeAnn Rimes said it best, “The Heart Never Forgets.” Never forgets the adoration, never forgets the praise, never forgets the safety it felt when someone you thought you cherished says “I Love You” & I want that back…

My life has been void of romantic love for quite sometime now. It used to pain me to say that I was a certain age & still single. Although that pain still lingers, I am appreciative of this wait because I know that if were to ever happen for me, it will be worth it & even more special because the love I desire has been cultivated with me in mind…

I don’t have much to say this year because in the love department, it’s a lot of the same thing for me , but today & everyday, I want us all to remember that the love we seek is also seeking us & the void we may be feeling is nothing compared to what’s coming to fill it.
