If You Think You're Lonely Now...

Happy Valentine's Day Y'all!

To all the lovers out there its your time to shine & to all of us who are lover challenged… our moment will come.

When I thought about love this past year, the only thing that really came to mind was everything that l was lacking. At the beginning of 2021 I claimed that it would be the last year that I would be single & here it is 365 later & I’m in the same single space that I’ve been in for years at this point.

I wanted to have all the amazing things to say & all the beautiful words to share today but if I’m being honest, I don’t have them. 

People always say how you need self love & how you shouldn’t depend on others to give the love you desire & that’s definitely facts. What happens, though, when you’ve unlocked the self love levels & you so desperately yearn for companionship that feels completely unattainable? It breaks my heart that I am not being loved by the gentle man that I have always desired. 

It’s always said around this time that you shouldn’t have to prove your love on one day. Valentine’s Day should be year round & yes, I completely agree but sometimes a grandiose gesture is nice & necessary. Ever since I can remember my mom & close girlfriends made this time of the year special for me & this year things just don’t feel familiar. 

Having to exist in a world where romantic love doesn’t visit often is excruciating. Especially when you’re told constantly that God will grant the desires of your heart & that’s all you’ve been desiring for years… This is the most empty & alone I’ve ever felt & that’s no one’s fault, really. The heart wants what the heart wants I guess…

My words are few this year in hopes that my story will be different sooner rather than later. My views tend to change like the weather when it comes to today but it’s my hope that the lonely hearts are filled with whatever they need in the moment to keep pushing. 

Today, I urge you to let out whatever it is that you’re feeling! Be honest & open with what today does or doesn’t mean for you. Give the love to those around you that you seek, in hopes that it returns 10 fold. 

For those singles out there like me that are struggling, know this… this isn’t our end. The love we seek is also seeking us. Affirm it. Believe it. Receive it.
